Gift Guide: Teenage Girl

I had such a blast creating this gift guide. Since I don't have daughters I had to dig into my inner teenage self and now I want to decorate a locker while wearing sparkly pink shoes! Don't get me started on the mermaid tail blanket because I own one and I am not sorry about it.

The wet hair brushes, Fresh sugar lip treatment and OPI nail polishes are some of my favorite things of all time and I feel like they are teen girl appropriate so I included them in this gift guide. I am aware that I have included the Apple Watch in just about every gift guide but I love mine so much I feel like everyone needs one. LOL! It may be a bit much for some parents. Also, it will not work if your teen doesn't have an iPhone so keep that in mind.

Overall, I hope this gift guide was helpful. Every image below is linked so you can shop everything easily.

Gift Guide: Teenage Boy

I'm not gonna lie I've been working on this gift guide for days. It was really hard to put together. As the mother of a 12 year old I know how picky they can be with everything from clothes to just about anything their mom would pick out for them. I also struggle with giving a teenager easy access to the internet so all the tech gifts I would still monitor closely. I try to gift all of my kids things that they can play with outside or games they can learn from so I tried to balance that out throughout this gift guide.

Please let me know if you need more ideas because I know this one is a tough one. You can click on the images below to shop everything. I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks again for stopping by Life By Meli.

Gift Guide for Grandma

Happy Monday and happy Black Friday week! I'm kicking off the official shopping season by posting a different gift guide every day on my blog. We are starting with the grandma gift guide because some of the gifts I've included will need to be personalized so you'll need some time to customize and order those gifts.

This gift guide includes gifts for all budgets. I've included items grandma can use to feel pampered, gifts she can use if she likes to garden or be outside with the grandkids and some of my all time favorite items in general. The UGG slippers for example, you cannot go wrong with these slippers and it's a nice little splurge for grandma. I've also added a couple of options for photo blankets because those are a huge hit in our family. Truth is, grandmas love pictures of their grand-babies on just about anything!

You can click directly on each picture below to shop the item.

I hope this gift guide was helpful. If you need help shopping for a certain someone or an age group of kids or so on, shoot that info my way and I will post an entire gift guide like this on my blog as soon as possible. Happy Black Friday deal shopping!

OMG! I had such a blast on Sunday at The Museum of Ice Cream. If you know me you know that ice cream is my jam! I was like a kid in a candy store, as you can see in all of my pictures. Chris and I got to go alone on a day date which is super rare (thanks mom for watching the kids) and we just had such a good time. Sometimes it's so nice to get out of the car and not have to unload a whole circus. Ha! Also, I missed my husband and having him all to myself for a few hours was just what I needed.

Below I've linked everything I wore. The cardigan is no longer available but I've linked a few that are really similar. I also added a floral velvet came that I thought was really pretty. You can click directly on the pictures to shop each piece. There are more than the three pieces you see below linked so make sure to click on the arrow to the right of the last picture to see more.

Hope you have a wonder Wednesday!!

Fall Top & Diaper Bags

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week got off to a good start.
For the most part it still doesn't feel like Fall in Southern California. I've been wearing three-quarter sleeve sweaters like this red knit sweater to balance the cold mornings and hot afternoons. It's a great top for layering and is also available in pink and black. I usually go with more neutral colors for sweaters but who doesn't need a good red top around the holidays? I know I always do. I sized up one size for length.

Since it feels like I'll be carrying a diaper bag for the rest of my life, I've tried out quiet a few. Although you know that the Fawn Design Gray (pictured above) is my favorite I'm also a big fan of Skip Hop bags. I've linked a couple of diaper bags, a portable changing station and kid's backpack and lunch bag. Skip Hop has the most adorable prints on their bags. Ryder loves carrying his little backpack around full of toys and can't wait to wear it to school. The lunch bags are insulated and super easy to clean.

You can shop my entire look below by clicking directly on each picture. I've linked everything including my lipstick and all the bags and accessories I mentioned above. Thank you so much once again for stopping by Life by Meli. Always feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or collaboration ideas.

My First Try On Session

I had a couple of hours blocked out today with just one baby and I thought it was going to be so easy to pull off a try on session. Boy was I wrong! My little guy does not want to sit still anymore and my try on session turned into a scream session. Living the mom life for real!

Above I've linked the items that I was able to try on and really check out. You can see more on my Instagram Stories. For reference I am wearing a medium in both tops and an extra small in the cardigan. Click directly on the images above to shop each piece. If you haven't figure it out by now you are gonna love where these pieces are from. Happy Shopping!

Motherhood Chat Monday: Mom Guilt

I feel like if you're a mom you totally know what I mean when I say MOM GUILT.  It's that sneaky feeling of guilt that creeps up on you at the sheer thought of doing something for yourself or even something for your kids that isn't "right". I became a mom when I was 22 years old so I really don't remember what life was like pre-motherhood aka life without mom guilt. It seems as though everything I do comes with some sort of guilt. If I buy myself something I think about what I could have bought my kids instead. If I'm having fun without my kids I feel guilty that I'm not having fun with them. If I post more pictures of the baby (who is the only one who will still smile for me) I feel bad that I'm not getting enough pictures of the other two. Ryan was my only child for almost nine years and when Ryder was going to be born the thought of having to love and care for another child brought on the mom guilt big time. Don't even get me started on the real stuff like what I am feeding them or how I'm not currently saving enough for their college. It's crazy!!!

My delivery with Ryan was so bad I was knocked out for hours after he was born and I didn't get to hold him right away. That's my first memory of mom guilt. I felt so bad that I had "left him alone" for so long as a newborn. Going back to work after my maternity leave with Ryder was agonizing because he was sick a lot and of course it was all my fault, both that he was sick and that I couldn't be with him.  For almost a year I beat myself up about Reed being born with a rare medical condition when there's absolutely nothing I could have done different to change that.

I wrote this whole blog post not so you could all think I'm crazy LOL but to let you know you are doing just fine and you're not alone. Sometimes you have to pull through the mom guilt to see things for what they really are. If you need a minute to yourself it's perfectly okay and you shouldn't feel bad about that.  Splurge on yourself you deserve it. It's okay to feel the guilt but don't forget to take care of yourself. I should try to take my own advice. Even on the days where you feel like it's mom fail after mom fail you are still doing your best. I've come to the realization that just by worrying as much as I do about my kids that I must be doing something right by them. Also, I think I'd notice if I had an alien living in my house for days. What was the mom from E.T. doing the whole time? Kidding!!

Hearth and Hand with Magnolia Launch

When I heard Joanna Gaines and Target were working on a collaboration I lost it. Insert all the emoji heart eyes here! I just knew it was going to be fabulous, accessible and most importantly affordable. Plus, who doesn't need another reason to visit Target... amiright?

Well today is the day! The big launch of Hearth and Hand with Magnolia has arrived at Target and it did not disappoint. Since my infant and toddler can't comprehend that mom and dad actually needed and were looking forward to that extra hour of sleep today, we were out the door bright and early for breakfast. It was actually pretty amazing because we missed all the crowds, both at breakfast and at Target. I basically got to shop the whole collection without a single soul around and I got first pick at the complimentary blooms they were handing out in celebration of the launch. It was what dreams are made of.

This collection is classic and timeless. I need every single piece immediately. Their Christmas decorations are not over the top ornate. Each piece is bright and airy and such a traditional take on Christmas decor. This advent calendar is one of my favorite pieces. I honestly don't think I've ever loved the look of an advent calendar before. You need to check out this Letters to Santa Mailbox. It's available in green and red and is just so cool!

Besides the Christmas decorations I love the pop of emerald green in the vases, throw pillows, kitchen towels and dishes. The mixture of materials of wood, iron and galvanized metals made my farmhouse decor loving heart explode. Their candles smell heavenly. I want my house to smell like this candle AT! ALL! TIMES! Can you tell how excited I am about this collection yet?
I linked all the pieces I could find online above but I will continue to update as pieces become available to link. You can click on the images above to shop everything you see. Make sure you check this collection out because it is seriously so good!

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. We had a blast with our little minions. Did you catch all the madness on my Insta stories? haha

Fall has finally arrived in Southern California so I am sharing a perfect sweater for fall. It is super affordable, has the coolest back detail and I LOVE the color.
